Now that you have seen a few of my bears, I hope you will come back often to see what is new. As you can see, I have different faces and styles. When I get an idea, I look for an interesting fur that might bring out something special.
A few years ago, I dyed a piece of mohair and was horrified to see the strangest green! It hung in the closet a long time until one day I thought, “What about a green RAT, a sassy-looking city rat with big feet and sunglasses, lounging?” ..........well, you get the idea.
I guess I should tell you that I have been designing since 1994. I love designing. I start by sketching. My drawings are just an indication of an idea, and the idea can come from anywhere. People-watching, like watching animals, is fun, and I get a lot of ideas from both. Then I choose a fur that I think will create the effect that I am after. The pattern is the difficult part. Sometimes this takes a lot of patience. Sewing then completes the process.
It isn’t rocket science, but it is an art form that has given pleasure and comfort to children and adults for centuries. That is why it is so important to me to design a bear that has a lovable face and is beautifully made!
